Larimer County Home Values Continue Upward
Good news or Bad news? The good news is that Larimer County home values are strong. The bad news is that it increases your property values…but by how much?
It’s that time again…
Every two years Larimer County homeowners are sent a postcard from the county assessor with their new property values and property taxes. Value is based on home sales during the 2 years prior to June 30, 2018. It’s no surprise it keeps going up. Those who own homes in the lower-priced end will see their values increase more since there is more demand for those homes.
Depending on the city you live in, values have increased 14% to 23%, not as large as other increases in the past few years but any increase can be painful for some.
If you think you want to protest, contact me. We’ve come up with a formula that will give you the best comps. But you must submit your protest by June 3.
Seniors & Veterans, Pay Attention!
If you are over 65 and have lived in your home for 10 years or more, you are eligible for the Senior Exemption which reduces your tax hit by 50% on the first $200,000. Disabled veterans are also available for this exemption.
But you need to apply by July 1 for Veterans and July 15 for Seniors.
